Unboxing Europe: Young, European, Empowered? Imagining Political Participation in Europe 2040

What does meaningful political participation look like for young people in Europe? And what could it look like in the future?

At a time when democratic values are under pressure and many young people feel unheard, this seminar offers space to explore how youth can help shape European democracy – today and tomorrow.

Through expert inputs, interactive activities, and direct exchange with EU representatives, participants will examine current opportunities and challenges for youth participation. Building on these insights, they will engage in a Vision Workshop (Zukunftswerkstatt) to develop creative visions and concrete ideas for strengthening youth political engagement by 2040.

Combining political education with creativity and action, this seminar empowers young voices to rethink democracy – and take part in shaping Europe’s future.

Registration and conditions of participation

The workshop is aimed at young adults residing in Germany and other EU countries. Participation, including meals as specified in the program, is free of charge. Thanks to the funding institutions, participants from outside Berlin can stay at the EAB free of charge (double rooms).

Travel expenses can be reimbursed upon presentation of the relevant receipts and in accordance with the Federal Travel Expenses Act (Bundesreisekostengesetz).

The registration deadline was October 5, 2025. Participation places are limited. We will contact you by October 12, 2025, to let you know whether we can offer you a place in the workshop.
