Seminar
COMPASS – Competitiveness Dialogue
Bridging Youth Perspectives and Political Reality
Defining the future of Europe
Economic policy can often feel complex and distant. Yet, decisions made today regarding innovation, global trade, and digital transformation directly shape the future of Europe. Through the COMPASS project, the European Academy Berlin provides an open platform for young Europeans to discuss these key issues, share their perspectives, and gain first-hand insights into European decision-making.
From Ideas to Practical Insights
Building on the groundwork established during our Civic Incubator Lab this past June, this seminar brings together international participants to develop and refine policy ideas. In collaborative workshops, participants will draft initial proposals and discuss them with policy practitioners to better understand how political processes and legislative realities work in practice.
Open Discussion & Networking
The highlight of the event is the opportunity for open dialogue. Participants will meet with political experts and decision-makers to discuss critical topics such as the green transition, AI regulation, and global trade strategy. It is an ideal space to ask pressing questions, share fresh viewpoints, and build lasting international networks.
Program Highlights
- Interactive Reality Check: Through an interactive format (e.g., a fishbowl discussion), participants discuss practical realities in key areas such as industrial policy, AI regulation, and Europe’s digital future with policy practitioners
- Exchange with Decision-Makers: Dialogue sessions offer participants the opportunity to exchange views with invited guest speakers and decision-makers, gaining direct insights into the EU’s economic strategy and global position
- Collaborative Policy Workshops: Working in international teams, participants sharpen their ideas on „policy posters,“ refining their recommendations through constructive feedback from experts.
- Documenting Youth Perspectives: Key takeaways from the seminar will be summarized and compiled into an EAB Youth Strategy Paper, capturing the ideas and perspectives developed during the weekend.
