Economic policy often feels like a distant process happening behind closed doors in Brussels. Yet, the decisions made today—regarding how we innovate, trade, and regulate new technologies—will define the life chances of the next generation. At the European Academy Berlin, we believe that those whose futures are being debated should be the ones shaping the agenda. Through the COMPASS project, we are bringing these essential conversations into the open, ensuring that the voices of young Europeans are not just heard, but are a driving force in the legislative process.

From ideas to real-world policy

This initiative is a bridge between vision and action. After establishing the groundwork during our Civic Incubator Lab this past June, we are now entering the phase of direct political engagement. By bringing together our core team with new international perspectives, we create a space where policy ideas are stress-tested and refined. Our participants will transform their visions into tangible policy proposals, preparing them for an intensive, face-to-face reality check with the people who hold the pen on European legislation.

A dialogue of equals

The core of this event is the encounter. We are hosting a collaborative forum where young visionaries engage directly with high-level experts and decision-makers from the European Commission and the European Parliament. It is a unique opportunity to challenge the status quo on critical issues—such as the green transition, the future of AI, and global trade strategy—while building the professional networks that will lead to meaningful change.

Event logistics

The Competitiveness Dialogue will take place at the European Academy Berlin from November 22 to November 24, 2026. We provide a fully supported environment, including all catering and coverage of travel and accommodation costs for non-Berlin participants, in accordance with the German Federal Travel Expenses Act.
