Dr. Mechthild Baumann is a seminar director. She designs, directs and evaluates EAB projects. In addition, she is the head of the institute for migration and security studies (imss – a registered association), works as an expert for the EU and for private foundations. Furthermore, she is on the academic staff at the French Ecole Nationale d’administration (ENA) and the University of Potsdam. She is the co-founder of the ‘Europeans in Berlin’ network and acts as a lay judge for juvenile cases. Mechthild Baumann completed her studies in political science at the Free University of Berlin and the Institut d’études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) each with a degree (M.A. equivalent). In 2005 she received a doctorate from the Humboldt University of Berlin (Berlin Graduate School of social sciences BGSS), with a scholarship from the German national academic foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes), about Europeanisation of border security.
